Steve, a gentle and caring Sharer
Steve, aged 49, initially shared for five months supporting Householder James, who had a terminal cancer. Steve felt it a great privilege to be there throughout those final months. James felt able to discuss his feelings about his prognosis with Steve, rather than burden his family members.
Steve then went to live Margaret and stayed for a year. He aimed to get himself back on a sound financial footing, and viewed homesharing as a means of achieving a good work/personal life balance whilst saving for a deposit on a privately rented flat. Steve was a professional artist, and also worked part-time as a Personal Assistant at a local college where he supported students with a disability. He stopped homesharing when offered a low cost flat in a friend’s house.
